Terms of Service

V1.2

Last Updated: February 5, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Aurelius Canon Enricher (the “Service”), including our website and enrichment application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

These Terms apply to all users, including visitors, registered users, and subscribers.

2. Description of the Service

Aurelius Canon Enricher provides automated processing and enrichment of bibliographic references, including citation parsing and confidence-based identifier verification (such as DOI), and may include related publication metadata when available, in output formats such as RIS.

The Service processes uploaded reference files and returns structured enrichment results. The Service is designed to avoid inventing or substituting citations. If a reference cannot be confidently verified, the Service may return a “not found” or partial result instead of assigning a bibliographic identifier (such as a DOI).

We do not guarantee that all references can be successfully enriched.

Data handling, processing, and retention practices are described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms by reference.

3. User Accounts

Some features of the Service require you to create an account or sign in through supported authentication methods.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Usage-Based Billing

The Service operates on a usage-based billing model measured by the number of references submitted for enrichment.

Usage is calculated based on the number of references submitted or inferred for evaluation, or based on a processing attempt initiated by an uploaded file. A processing attempt may occur even if zero references are ultimately extracted, parsed, or enriched. A reference is considered processed once it has been parsed and evaluated, regardless of whether any bibliographic identifier field is found and/or verified.

Outcomes such as “not found” or partial enrichment reflect valid processing results where no confident match exists and do not constitute a service failure.

Usage limits, quotas, and plan details vary by subscription tier and may change over time.

5. Payments and Subscriptions

Paid plans are offered on a subscription basis and are billed in advance on a recurring schedule (e.g., monthly), unless otherwise stated.

Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor (Stripe). We do not store full payment card details.

You authorize us to charge applicable fees to your selected payment method in accordance with your chosen plan.

6. Cancellations

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the applicable account or billing portal.

If you cancel, your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged for subsequent billing periods unless you re-subscribe.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for unlawful purposes

  • Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Service

  • Upload malicious files or content

  • Circumvent usage limits or access controls

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or for security reasons.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, and documentation, is owned by Aurelius Canon LLC and is protected by intellectual property laws.

Certain methods, systems, or processes used by the Service may be the subject of pending patent applications. Nothing in these Terms grants any license or right to such patent-pending or proprietary technology beyond the limited right to use the Service as provided herein.

You retain ownership of the content you upload. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

The Service provides automated bibliographic processing, enrichment, and confidence-based bibliographic identifier verification. It does not provide academic, legal, medical, or professional advice. You are solely responsible for reviewing, validating, and interpreting all output before relying on it for any purpose.

Enrichment results reflect whether a reference could be confidently resolved based on available metadata and external scholarly sources. Where no sufficiently reliable match exists, the Service may intentionally return a “not found” or partial result rather than assign an uncertain or speculative identifier. Such conservative outcomes are an intentional design and safety feature of the Service.

We do not guarantee that:

  • all references will be successfully enriched

  • the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free

  • enrichment results will meet specific academic or publication requirements

Enrichment outputs are generated programmatically based on available reference metadata and external scholarly indexes and may contain errors, omissions, or ambiguities.

Use of the Service is at your own discretion and risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aurelius Canon LLC shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount paid by you to us during the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

11. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may modify the Service or these Terms from time to time. Updates will be posted with a revised “Last Updated” date.

Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict of law principles.
