1. Overview
Aurelius Canon Enricher operates on a usage-based model that charges for the processing and evaluation of bibliographic references. This Refund Policy explains how usage charges, subscription fees, and refunds are handled. This Refund Policy is also part of and incorporated into our Terms of Service.
The Service is designed to provide responsible, confidence-based enrichment and may intentionally return “not found” or partial results where no confident match exists.
2. Usage Charges and Processing Outcomes
Usage is calculated based on the number of references submitted or inferred for evaluation, or based on a processing attempt initiated by an uploaded file. A processing attempt may occur even if zero references are ultimately extracted, parsed, or enriched.
A reference is considered processed once it has been parsed and evaluated by the Service, regardless of whether any bibliographic identifier is found and/or verified.
Processing may include document ingestion, text extraction, heuristic analysis, and automated parsing (including LLM-assisted parsing). If a submitted document is successfully processed through these steps, usage may be consumed even if no references are ultimately detected or no enriched output is produced.
Outcomes such as “not found” or partial enrichment reflect valid and intentional processing results and do not constitute a service failure.
Usage is refunded only in cases where processing fails due to an internal system error and does not successfully complete the processing steps described above.
Accordingly:

Usage is not refunded or restored based solely on the absence of a bibliographic identifier.

Conservative or incomplete results are an expected and intentional safety feature of the Service.
3. Subscription Fees
Subscription fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable once processing activity has occurred, except where required by law.
Refunds are not issued for:

Processed references, including those that return “not found” results

Partial usage within a billing period

Unused quota or remaining usage

Dissatisfaction with enrichment outcomes or confidence determinations
4. Cancellations
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the applicable account or billing portal.
If you cancel:

Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

You will retain access to the Service and any remaining usage during that period.

No refunds are issued for unused time or remaining usage at the end of a billing cycle.
5. Exceptional Circumstances
In rare cases involving billing errors, duplicate charges, or significant service outages, refund requests may be reviewed at our discretion.
Any approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method and may take several business days to appear, depending on the payment provider.
